Ford had an early start on his culinary journey. When he was only 14 years old, he discovered the magic of cooking while visiting his grandmother in Jacksonville, Florida, and fell in love with the process of creation. His talents led him to success at a young age. By the age of 16, he served as the garde manger at a four-diamond Mediterranean-style restaurant called Matthew’s in his hometown. By the age of 18, he was working in Los Angeles at the world-famous L’Orangerie, where he refined his French cooking skills under executive chef Christophe Émé.

While working at the Matador Room, Ford competed in the 13th season of the popular Top Chef in 2015. He won the season title and followed this accomplishment by opening his own restaurant, Stubborn Seed, in his home state. The Michelin-starred restaurant (which garnered Ford’s first star in 2022) is situated in Miami Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood at 101 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139.

Reservations are strongly encouraged and are available through the restaurant’s website or by calling (786) 322-5211. If a reservation is canceled within 24 hours of the appointed time, there will be a cancellation fee of $50 per person. This fee doubles during the holidays and special occasions. The dress code is smart casual and strictly enforced. Guests should be aware that the restaurant does not offer vegetarian or vegan dishes and cannot accommodate those who must avoid dairy.
